USEA has entered into a
virtual partnership arrangement with the Kazakhstan Electricity
Association (KEA) to assist them with their
administration and organization development. The partnership is part
of the Energy Industry Partnership Program (EIPP) which is managed by
USEA and sponsored by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
The EIPP matches U.S. utilities and
regulatory commissions with their counterparts in the Former Soviet
Union to assist in that regions transition to a market
economy.
Overview
of the Kazakhstan Electricity Association
The Kazakhstan Electricity Association (KEA) was founded in
1998 to coordinate the activities and to protect the common
interests of the eletric power industry of Kazakhstan; to
support all organizations whose activities relate to the
industry; to work on state laws and legislation pertaining to
the industry; to arrange forums, conferences and meetings at
which members of the association can acquire a better
understanding of the problems of the industry; and to defend
the interests of the members.
The association consists of twenty-eight (28) members
including eight (8) founding members, sixteen (16)
participating members, and four (4) observing members. The
association is is governed by a ten-member Board of Directors
who are selected from among the association member
organizations.
