Almaty blacked out- power outage September 24 blacked out Kazakhstan’s largest city, media reported, quoting the Alatau Zharyk Kompaniyasy energy-distributing company. KazTAG reported that the entire city had lost power, while Total.kz reported 75% of the city was affected. A substation breakdown was to blame, shutting down Almaty’s subway and airport, Tengri News reported. Traffic lights also stopped functioning, causing traffic jams kilometres long. Processing capacity of KazMunaiGas increased - The Romanian company 'Rompetrol' which is a branch of Kazakh national oil and gas company "KazMunaiGas" has completed modernization of oil and gas processing plant Petromidiya in Black Sea, Director General of "Rompetrol" Janat Tusupbekov reported to journalists on Thursday. The increase of processing capacity from 3.8 to 5 million tons of raw material per year has been reached. The plant has transferred to euro 5 fuel standard ", Tusupbekov added.....Source: Trend.az

RusHydro, JSC Electric ink deal for hydroelectric development - Moscow-based utility JSC RusHydro and Kyrgyzstan's JSC Electric have announced a plan to develop four hydroelectric stations in the Kyrgyz Republic. The four hydropower plants will have a combined capacity of 191 MW when complete, with a price tag near US$425 million. Each plant will take about three years to complete, though RusHydro says it expects much of the work to be executed simultaneously. Kyrgyz Kambarata-1 HPP construction to end in 2021 - The construction of Kambarata-1 hydropower plant in Kyrgyzstan is planned to be finished in 2021, KyrTAG reported on Monday with reference to Kyrgyz Energy and Industry Minister Avtandil Kalmambetov. The whole construction admittedly will last for 8 years and will start in spring 2013. Establishment of TAPI gas pipeline consortium discussed in Ashgabat - Ashgabat hosted a meeting of the steering committee for the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project. Plans on the formation of an international consortium were determined, the Turkmen Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources said today. 'Plans for the near future related to the accelerated implementation of the transnational pipeline construction project were determined at the meeting of the steering committee which was held in a constructive format', the information said. Uzbek Company Constructs Power Supply Facilities for Potash Fertiliser Plant- Uzbekenergo company started construction of new power supply facilities for Dehkanabad potash fertilizer plant (Kashkadarya region, south of Uzbekistan) worth $67.5 million, the company representative told Trend on Wednesday.
