Asset Management and Transmission System Management, Operations and Maintenance Exchange Visit Between the Georgia State Electrosystem (GSE) and Bonneville Power Administration (BPA)

GEORGIA:  Ensuring Energy Security

The Bonneville Power Authority (BPA) initiated a utility partnership  exchange program on transmission system maintenance with the  senior management of the Georgian State Electrosystem (GSE),  Georgia’s national transmission system operator. The partnership  complements the aggressive program to reconstruct GSE’s 500 kV  network and develop a back-to-back DC converter station linking its grid to Turkey.

This exchange visit to the United States marks the second in a series of technical information exchanges between the Bonneville Power Administration and the Georgian State Electrosystem.  The initial activity on Transmission System Management, Operations and Maintenance was conducted in Tbilisi, Georgia in 2011, where nearly 25 engineers and senior management participated.
