The United States Energy Association (USEA) seeks an organized, tenacious Program Coordinator with 2-5 years of journalism and/or communications experience, knowledge of the energy sector, including its influencers and policymakers, to support USEA’s internal and external communications goals and special energy policy events. 


USEA helps expand energy infrastructure in developing countries and emerging economies through a partnership with USAID, advances policy and technical discussions on clean fossil energy technologies, including carbon capture and sequestration, with the Office of Fossil Energy at the U.S. Department of Energy, and represents 151 members across the U.S. energy sector. USEA provides an educational function, sharing knowledge of energy and resource management to a diverse global audience.

Position Description

The Program Coordinator for Communications and Special Events supports the goals of the Director of Communications and the mission of USEA by assisting in social media content development, monitoring and messaging on digital platforms, traditional media outreach, writing, editing, printing and publishing internal and external materials, including, but not limited to press materials.

The Program Coordinator acts as a liaison between USEA international development teams and the Director of Communications to collect project information, materials and other duties as assigned.

The program coordinator will organize and execute various briefings, seminars, conferences, and other special events determined by the Director of Communications and/or the Executive Director. The position includes light clerical support, as needed. The coordinator will also support USEA internal subject areas, committees of USEA members and staff committee chairs.


The ideal candidate would possess:

  • Some understanding of the global energy landscape, policymakers and influencer groups
  • At least 2 years working experience in communications, media relations and energy
  • Basic knowledge of the functions of regulatory agencies, and the executive and legislative branches of the U.S. government
  • Social media skills
  • Strong research, writing and editing skills
  • Strong verbal, public speaking and communication skills
  • Must be U.S. citizen
