The United States Energy Association (USEA) cordially invites you to take part in a collaborative Workshop on Direct Air Capture Technology Needs, co-hosted with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Fossil Energy (DOE-FE) in Washington, DC. The workshop will build upon the recent publication of the National Academies of Science report Negative Emissions Technologies and Reliable Sequestration – A Research Agenda 2019 and is designed to help inform DOE-FE as they finalize a research program plan for direct air capture and other associated carbon removal technologies.

The workshop will be held in the Oceanic Room of the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center at 1300 Pennsylvania Ave NW, Washington, DC, 20004. It will take place on July 24, 2019 and will run from 8:30 AM - 5:15 PM, with a breakfast from 7:30 AM - 8:30 AM and registration beginning at 7:00 AM. Guests will include subject matter experts from industry, academia, national labs, and the federal government, all with experience in Direct Air Capture including materials development, process design, and systems optimization. The program will tentatively begin with opening remarks from Assistant Secretary for Fossil Energy Steve Winberg, followed by three 90-minute sessions consisting of a series of presentations and group discussions with participants sharing their diverse ideas and perspectives. To facilitate active participation by all attendees, a workshop pre-read will be distributed prior to the workshop with background information to seed the discussions.
