Biography: 

Mike received his bachelor of science from the University of Dayton and doctorate in inorganic chemistry from the University of Texas, Austin.  After completing a postdoc at the University of California, Berkeley, he joined ExxonMobil’s Process Development Laboratories in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  Over the past 26 years, Mike has held a number of technical and management positions within ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Company (EMRE), ExxonMobil Refining and Supply Company and ExxonMobil Chemical.  Currently, Mike is manager for Corporate Strategic Research of EMRE.

Mike holds more than 30 U.S. patents and is a past recipient of the American Chemical Society’s Heroes of Chemistry Award for commercializing technology to produce cleaner diesel fuels.  Mike participated in the National Petroleum Council U.S. Petroleum Refining study to provide guidance on advanced process technology for environmentally beneficial fuels and has served on the National Academies Board on Chemical Sciences and Technology, the Chemical Heritage Foundation, the Texas Bioenergy Policy Council, and is active in United Way.
